Blue Sky Science - holiday science workshops for kids

Blue Sky Science are running some awesome science workshops for kids this January.

There are venues all around the Sunshine Coast, including Caloundra, Landsborough, Mapleton, Palmwoods, Eumundi and Coolum.

Workshops are 90 minutes and start at 11am and 1:30pm.

Tickets are $18 each

Art in the Lab

Use science and art to make colourful artworks. In this colourful workshop, kids will make a mobile out of mini artworks that they create using scientific principles...

What do you get when you combine bright blobs of paint with centrifugal force? The result is "spin art"

And, if you use a solvent to carry molecules of ink by capillary action, you are creating a work of art with chromatography!

This workshop is suitable for kids of all ages, but budding scientists/artists under 7 will need to be assisted by a grown up
(there's no charge for the adult helper).

Blow Off

You can't see it, but it's all around you... it's air! Come and learn all about air pressure.

In this air powered workshop, kids will discover just how powerful air is by racing balloon rockets and have great fun using flying potato pieces for target practice.

Suitable for ages 7-12.

Sticky & Stretchy Water

What do rain and bubbles have in common? They're both made of water!

Did you know that water is both sticky and stretchy? In this workshop kids will explore these amazing properties of water
and will get a crash course in bubblology - the study of bubbles.

Suitable for ages 7-12.

Icky Sticky Ooey Gooey

Goo, glorious goo!

Kids get really hands on (or should we say “hands in”) in this workshop as they explore the properties of polymers. They will
find out how to make a bean bag disappear and create their own squidgy goo to take home.

Suitable for ages 7-12.
